Fully Automated Wet Chemistry system at Lab Africa Exhibition in South Africa IMP Automation was proud to successfully launch the fully Automated Nucomat "NiS" Wet Chemistry system at the Lab Africa exhibition, Northgate Dome in June 2009. The system demonstrated the automation of the hazardous Nickel Sulphide preparation technique which is of particular interest to the Platinum mining and commercial laboratories. The Automation of this process as well as other Wet Chemical techniques is sure to revolutionise the industry and provide significant benefits to precision and accuracy, improved efficiencies and reduced hazardous working conditions for staff. IMP Automation is an acknowledged world leader in Laboratory Automation and is excited about bringing the range of "NiS" Nucomat Wet Chemistry Automation systems to the platinum and palladium mining industry. The NiS systems will complement the very successful copper wet chemistry automation systems and other wet chemistry automation solutions already provided by IMP. In the Pt mining and exploration industry, for the most accurate individual PGE data NiS is used as the PGE collector. The Automated Nucomat 'NiS' Wet Chemistry system fully automates the next necessary hazardous sample preparation procedures. These procedures include weighing, mixing, dispensing, diluting, digestion, addition of reagents, automatic filtration and filter recovery, cooling and making up to volume, and presenting a solution to an instrumental method of analysis such as ICP - MS. All samples are electronically tracked and controlled by ROBIN (a central supervisory system developed by Nucomat) from registration to final result being transmitted to a database, where data can be validated and released for reporting-typically by a LIMS system.
